Your tangled web of all things Spider-Man

Privacy Policy & Disclosures

The short version: we barely collect anything, we don't track you, and we're upfront about affiliate links.

No cookies, no ad trackers, no analytics scripts, no profiles. ThwipNet doesn't follow you around the web or sell anything about you. We don't even set a login cookie.

What little we store

Visitor counter. To run the classic hit counter, we store a one-way hash of your IP address combined with the date — just enough to count you once per day. It can't be reversed back into your IP and is never shared.

Guestbook. If you sign the guestbook, the name, location, and message you type are stored and shown publicly (that's the point!). Don't post anything you wouldn't want public. A hashed IP is kept with each entry purely for spam control.

Wall-Crawler high scores. If you save a score in the game, the name you enter and your score are stored and shown publicly on the leaderboard, alongside a hashed IP for spam control. Use a nickname if you'd rather not use your real name.

💲 Affiliate-link disclosure

ThwipNet is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. This means some outbound links to Amazon are affiliate links: if you click one and make a purchase, ThwipNet may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. These links are marked with a "find it on Amazon"-style button, a visible affiliate link note, and rel="sponsored" in the markup. Affiliate links never change which products we mention or what we say about them; we only point to things genuinely relevant to the page (a film on Blu-ray, a specific comic, etc.). "As an Amazon Associate, ThwipNet earns from qualifying purchases."

Third-party data, links & images

Pages pull data from external services and link out to publishers and stores. Specifically: character data from the Superhero API; movie & TV data from TMDB and OMDb; comic data from Metron (with Comic Vine as a backup); video-game data & art from RAWG; and headlines from Google News. Comic cover images are loaded directly from Metron's servers (static.metron.cloud), so your browser requests those images from Metron when you view the comics pages. Outbound links (to Amazon, publishers, official sites, the webring, etc.) open third-party websites that have their own privacy policies — this policy only covers ThwipNet.

The Old Web Project webring

The Prev/Random/Next links in the footer redirect you between independent member sites via the hub at theoldwebproject.org. The hub only redirects you; it isn't an ad network.

Questions, or want a guestbook entry removed? Sign the guestbook and we'll take care of it.
