❓ About ThwipNet
A love letter to the wall-crawler — and to the web that used to feel like ours.
ThwipNet is an independent, non-commercial fan site dedicated to everything Spider-Man: the movies, the animated series, the comics, the video games, and the sprawling cast of heroes and villains who've shared his web over sixty-plus years.
We built it in the spirit of 1997 — back when a fan site was hand-made, a little loud, gloriously personal, and connected to the rest of the web by webrings instead of algorithms. The chrome buttons, the marquee, the hit counter, the guestbook: all on purpose. The code underneath is modern, accessible, and secure — but the spirit is pure old web.
The data is real and refreshes itself: characters and power stats from the Superhero API, films and shows from TMDB & OMDb, a 3,000+ issue comic archive (back to 1962) from Metron — with Comic Vine as a backup — the video games from RAWG, and Spidey headlines from across the net. A friendly nod to the future, wrapped in the past.
ThwipNet is a proud member of The Old Web Project — a network of independent retro sites bringing back the internet that's ours, one page at a time. Travel the ring from the footer below.
